What We Do

Redefining Leadership for Children of all Abilities

Pathways helps children of all abilities come together to lead each other by teaching them to value differences in the following ways:

1. Promote Inclusion:

Promote a sense of genuine inclusion and belonging through clarity of vision, acceptance of diversity, and instilling empathy toward others.

a. The foundation to every child's growth and development is to feel they are included and belong which then gives them that essential connection that they are somebody of value and purpose. This is the core from which children develop hope and vision, who the are, what they want, their own voice, and self confidence.

b. Our programs are open to all children, and are designed to teach inclusion using the "children teaching children" model, where children of all abilities work together to excel at their own pace toward achieving their goals and aspirations.

c. Pathways provides formalized mentor trainings to help peers learn to understand how to include children with special needs or those who may be different from them and fosters a mutual admiration and respect for what they can gain and learn from each other.

2. Build Confidence:

Deliver flexible, innovative, and collaborative opportunities that help children find their strengths; and translate these strengths into meaningful avenues that help establish a strong foundation of self and purpose.

a. All children have strengths and passions. Pathways helps children explore these passions, empowering children to excel at their strengths and gain the confidence needed to make positive choices and to lead their lives more independently. Inclusion is the essential foundation but gaining self confidence is the next step that allows children to think "iCAN" and to turn that idea into the action steps of "iDO."

3. Maximize Potential:

Build the skills and identify the resources, both internal and external, needed to help children continue toward maximizing their potential.

a. Every child has skills and talent but must be given the opportunity to find it and develop it. Pathways works toward helping children to not only realize the skills and talents within them, but to continuously work to access the resources and opportunities available that can keep them progressing toward reaching their fullest potential.

4. Add Value:

Influence others to recognize the importance of service in leadership, and the inherent responsibility they have to add value to others in their schools and communities.

a. Pathways creates a win-win proposition where children of all abilities are given the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and to contribute to helping others feel more valued and empowered. Children in our programs are expected to give back and take the investment we have made in them full circle in teaching and mentoring others.

5. Empower Futures:

Empower children to become leaders of remarkable influence who are catalysts for change and aspire to leave an indispensable legacy.

a. Children hold the keys to the future and will be the next generation to inherit the world. Empowering them to lead both themselves and others to greater heights is our biggest priority.

b. Leadership L.I.V.E is a program within Pathways that challenges children to select any area of social change they feel passionate about and to "Dream it Forward" in even greater ways to enhance the lives of others. Pathways strives to help support leadership aspirations that keep the philosophy of "Include ME!" as a priority in whatever endeavor they choose.
