Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to have a child with special needs to join Pathways?

No, membership is open to everyone. Pathways for Exceptional Children believes every child is exceptional, which is why we developed our mentoring program, which gives children without special needs a key role in our recreational, educational, and leadership programs. Pathways also provides opportunity for everyone—from senior citizens, businesses, and other organizations—to get involved.

  • What types of disabilities does Pathways focus on?

Pathways does not focus on any one specific type of disability. Our primary focus has always been based on decreasing the 70% national unemployment rate for all people with disabilities of any kind.

  • Does Pathways provide only educational assistance?

No, Pathways has a vast array of recreation programs that teach sports, life and social skills, and mentoring. Pathways also offers family support services, opportunities to attend exciting events, network, and meet other families with similar needs, and Pathways Home-Based Buddies program.
